Privacy Policy

This page explains what data SnapTools collects, how it's used, and what we explicitly never collect. If anything is unclear, please reach out via the contact page.
Files you process
Your files never leave your device. Every tool on this site processes files entirely in your browser, using JavaScript and WebAssembly running locally. The bytes of your PDFs, images, and text are never transmitted to our servers, because there is no server-side processing infrastructure.
This applies to the on-device AI tools too — the Background Remover loads an ONNX neural network in your browser via WebAssembly, and the Smart Image Upscaler uses canvas-based resampling. Neither tool sends image data to a server. The model weights are cached in your browser after the first run.
You can verify this yourself: open your browser's network inspector while you use any tool. You'll see no upload requests, no data transmissions of file content, and no calls to third-party APIs.
Embeddable widgets
Some calculator tools (mortgage, loan, compound interest, BMI, GPA, percentage) can be embedded on other websites via an iframe pointing at /embed/<slug>. When embedded, the same privacy guarantee applies: all calculation happens in the visitor's browser. We do not collect any data from third- party sites that embed our widgets, beyond standard analytics on the iframe load itself.
Information we do collect
We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate usage — page views, country, device type, and which tools are most popular. This helps us prioritise improvements. Analytics data is anonymised and is never tied to file content (we don't have any file content).
Server access logs (IP address, user agent, request URL) are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period as part of normal web operations. We don't actively analyse them.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies:
- Theme preference — stored in localStorage so we remember whether you prefer dark or light mode.
- Tool drafts — some tools (e.g. the Markdown editor) save your draft locally so you can pick up where you left off. These never leave your device.
- Google Analytics — sets a few cookies for measurement purposes. You can opt out at any time using a browser extension or your local privacy controls.
Advertising
We display ads via Google AdSense to keep the tools free. To be clear about what that involves:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites on the Internet.
- Google's advertising cookie (including the cookies set under the
doubleclick.netandgooglesyndication.comdomains, such as__gadsand__gpi) enables Google and its partners to serve personalised ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites. - Other third-party ad networks may likewise use cookies to measure and serve ads.
You can control, limit, or opt out of personalised advertising at any time:
- Manage Google's ad personalisation at Google My Ad Center (formerly Google Ads Settings).
- Opt out of many third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info/choices (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
When you first visit, a consent banner lets you choose whether to allow personalised ads. If you decline (or are in a region that requires consent and haven't granted it), ads are served in a non-personalised mode that does not use advertising cookies for profiling. You can change your choice any time by clearing this site's data in your browser. For more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see Google's partner policy.
Children's privacy
SnapTools is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has somehow shared personal information with us, contact us and we'll remove it.
GDPR / CCPA
Because we don't store or transmit user files, the data we hold about any individual user is limited to anonymised analytics and standard server logs. EU and California residents may request the deletion of any personal data tied to their visits via the contact page.
